There is no doubt in my mind that all the good things you hear about Pilates are true. The change in my life that has happened due to Kristen’s inspiration and teaching has been far more comprehensive than recovering from disabling injuries and inactivity. It is more than doing things at 60 that I thought I never would again at 50 or things I thought I never could at 30. It is more than pleasing and then astonishing my doctors. It is learning that whatever it is, you don’t have to give in to it, you can DO IT! It is the most personal empowerment that one person can teach another to possess. It would be easy to go on but there is no talk that can convey how differently effective pilates instruction makes you feel. DO IT for yourself and everyone in your life will benefit from the improvement. I felt better after only a few hours of personal training. After you feel better and want to talk about it remember this blog, People who don’t do pilates often don’t want to hear about it as much as you want to talk. This is where people know what you mean and share your enthusiasm.

Thanks Tom for your response. Tom touched on a question many people ask me “Can I Do Pilates?” Everyone can do Pilates! I have clients from 14 years old to 91 years young! Many people have been led to believe Pilates is for woman, dancers or athletes. This is simply not true. Everyone can benefit from Pilates due to its versatility to adapt to each person’s needs and goals. Pilates is now used for physical therapy, sports conditioning, injury prevention, pregnancy and post pregnancy and so much more. Tom is a perfect example of someone who has experienced the true power of Pilates. Keep up the good work Tom!, See you at the Pilates Studio.

The new Calender system is great! Now I can see when there is an open slot in your Circuit Class’s and Mat Classes.
I suggest everyone click the Calender on the left side of the home page and then click the goggle calender button on the lower right of the calender to add the Pilates Studio calender to there own system. That way when the Pilates Studio updates there classes you will have it in your email!!..
Very Cool..
Now I need to come try the ROM !
Can you give me some idea why the ROM ?

Kristen Williams is the best Pilates person in Santa Barbara by far. Her life experience, Stroke surviver, Broadway dancer have made her the best in town for the last 10 years. Don’t mess around with the other Pilates studios in town. If you are in need of some personal training go see Kristen Williams and her staff at the Santa Barbara Pilates Studio. I did !!

I have been studying under Kristen since March ‘08 and I am amazed at how great I feel. When I am finished with a work out with Kristen or Erin, I feel revitalized and full of energy. I even think I see clearer afterwards from all of the oxygen I taken in. I have lost 25 pounds and have completely re-toned my flabby body to what it was when I was dancing professionally back in the 1990’s. Kristen’s teaching is clear and precise and probably one of the best work outs that you will find in. Pilates is challenging because there are 600 plus exercises, which never leaves for a dull moment. I would fully recommend the mat class on Tuesday night and working with the instructors in the Circuit 1 and Circuit 2 classes which happen daily .

Santa Barbara Pilates Studio was recommended to me by a friend, and it has changed my life. Initially, I started doing pilates to loose weight not knowing the extent of benefits that would come from doing pilates. It has been the best thing I have done for myself in a long time! I have lost some weight, improved by posture and overall toned my body. Kristen’s knowledge of how the body works and her keen observations and feedback are invaluable. Her upbeat style and energy make the workout such a positive experience, and I leave feeling energized. I have taken many of the different classes that Kristen offers, and it would be diffiuclt to say which is my favorite. Kristen and Peter are wonderful, and I always look forward to going to class. I kept telling my husband that he should come to pilates with me, and finally he came to a Saturday morning class and loved it. He also does the ROM. Pilates will be a permanent part of my life in the future!

I’ve been asked by many sports enthusiasts how can Pilates help me with my game? With many sports we all tend to use our dominant side(our stronger side) as with tennis,golf,swimming,etc. What happens is we create an imbalance in our bodies especially if this is an activity we play often. As we favor this side we carry that through with our everyday lifestyle without even realizing it. PIiates help create balance in the body therefore giving you a better base(core strength) to work from and in the end making you stronger and more flexible for your sport! Pilates helps with so many sports. I have clients that are surfers,triathletes, tennis and golf players,runners,bikers,dancers and more. So you’re thinking well I don’t really play sports so how can PIlates help me? I have many new moms holding their babies on one side of their body all day long creates imbalance. Sitting at a desk all day using the mouse with one arm creates imbalance , so you can see we all have some sort of imbalance myself included!! Pilates really helping me in my recovery from my stroke since it affected the left side of my body and my vision. Also I’ve gotten more and more clients referred to me from physical therapy. So as you can see Pilates can benefit almost anyone, and like I say to all my clients Pilates is not just the hour you’re working with me it’s a something you carry through your everyday lifestyle, whether that is a new mom,a sports enthusiast, or just someone who is at a desk all day. Pilates can create balance in your life.
